  • Blackberry has today launched a new smartphone called the Blackberry 9720. The new backlit QWERTY keypad featuring smartphone has 2.8 inch screen with a 4:3 aspect ratio. Alongside the 35-keyed board, users have an option of touch screen and optical trackpad for input. QWERTY has always been the USP of the Blackberry models. With dimensions of 4.48 inch by 2.61 inch by 0.47 inch, the phone is pretty lightweight at just 20 grams. The Blackberry 9720 screen features 480 x 360 display resolution (HVGA) at 214 ppi in 24-bit colour.

    The phone features the BlackBerry 7 OS version 7.1 and is powered by 806 MHz Tavor MG1 processor. We digged deeper into the tech specs sheet to find 512 MB RAM and a removable microSD memory card–slot under battery door (up to 32 GB). The phone derives its power from a 1450mAH removable battery which is claimed to offer up to 7 hours of talktime and 18 days of standby time. "The new BlackBerry 9720 smartphone builds on the incredible success of the BlackBerry 7 OS," said Sunil Lalvani, Managing Director for India at BlackBerry. "This new smartphone provides an ideal choice for urban youth and customers who are looking to upgrade from a feature phone or existing BlackBerry Curve smartphone to an affordable, easy-to-use smartphone with rich messaging and social networking connectivity."

    The smartphone also integrates BlackBerry Balance technology, which separates work from personal content on the smartphone, supporting the needs of the enterprise and the BYOD (Bring your own device) customer. The rear camera is a 5 megapixel EDOF (Extended Depth of Field) one and features 4X digital zoom. The phone also has a dedicated BBM key and BBM Voice. The latest version of BBM, which features BBM Channels, will also soon be available for download on the BlackBerry World storefront, said the company.

    The BlackBerry 9720 price in India is officially stated to be Rs. 15,990. Authorized retailers will start selling the device in India from September 14.     The BB looks great with 2.8" screen and a option of both touch and keypad makes sit elegant.For its reputed name and features price is reasonable.
