BIOMETRIC AUTHENTICATION SYSTEM USING HUMAN EAR
Project Abstract / Summary : Bio metrics is the science of identifying or verifying the identity of a person based on physiological or behavioral characteristics. People may have heard of fingerprint machine,eye retinal detection machine or face reorganization machine but my idea is different,apart from usual things like fingerprint,retinal or face reorganization it will be based on ear pattern reorganization,like everyone has different finger print,face and retina they have ear specifications also.The main objective of this project is to use ear as an object of recoganization .The main focus behind choosing "ear" as special point is this nobody could guess how they are getting judged for authentication.Basically,there will be a camera like spy camera,and will g![[IMG]](proxy.php?image=https%3A%2F%2Fdrive.google.com%2Fopen%3Fid%3D0ByJQyJxk2uqQLWdNeF82YXF6blk&hash=6f1678686f1ff4d92bc56dfe8a7ade24)
et the raw data and transfer it to the main database of the system.There will be three stages for a single authentication process,First will be data collection in which the our camera will click the picture of ear,which will become our raw data,then the other tools in data collection will modify the image and cut crop it and find the unique region of identification,then this useful data out of raw data will get saved in our database with required information.Then,second step that is,Image processing that is the part when actual authentication will be required,suppose this system is applied to an bank locker system,the user has already passed his information in our database that means our first step is already accomplished,then the user wants to enter the locker room,then he will need to show his ear in front of the system, then image processing will come in action,it will again remove faults in current picture and will find a unique region and then the third step will come in action that is Decision making It will start matching this current picture having unique area,with already existing pictures in the database,and will find the match,if it verifies with the already existing picture then the positive report will be sent to the authentication system and as required in above example,the bank locker room will be open for the user.this project will be using MATLAB for image processing, and a digital camera,processors,ram and hard disk.
Why did you choose to work on this project topic : I picked this project because of its advancement in security.As I specified above the digital camera to be used as a spy camera because It's not necessary to tell the person about what actually happening.This camera could be hidden and can get raw data and the process can continue without prior knowledge to the person about what identification system is being used.It enforces more security and no doubt information safety. Today's requirement is security more and more secure systems are needed and this project mainly focuses on this important aspect security that is the plus point of this project.Like nowadays,population is growing at a very fast rate as well as requirements of people and expectation are getting raised,this could be solution to this.As in a pool of people,security standards are well required.This project will take that standard to high level by making each field in the society more secure,data security will be enforced.Ear bio metrics can be also used to enhance effectiveness of other well-known bio metrics, by its implementation in multi modal systems. Since most of the methods have some drawbacks, recently, the idea of building multi modal (hybrid) bio metrics systems is gaining lot of attention. Due to its advantages, ear bio metrics seems to be a good choice to support well known methods like voice, hand or face identification.Its future scope will be raised by this hybrid model concept.
Project Highlights : My project idea according to me should win because of its qualities like,maintaining security standards,a large amount of data could be safe,its future scope is much high,and its usability is vast it can be used anywhere in banks,offices,school,colleges,army purposes,scientific and its Robust feature extraction method can be used to determine personality of some individuals, for instance terrorists at the airports and stations and much more,The system will provide secretive authentication, Performance can be increased by fast processing,Images can be easily taken, even without the knowledge of the examined person,its hybrid model concept will going to be an asset for future for security reasons.
