  • Bicycle Powered Washing Machine - How Can This Design Be Improved?

    I recently came across bicycle powered washing machine where you can pedal the drum and have the clothes washed; and maybe dried. I was wondering if there is a way to improve it.

    I think there could be a gear system that will adjust the drum rotating speed - useful for normal wash, heavy wash and then high-speed for drying. Here's a video that might help -

    The video brought back my Kerala days. I have seen long back a much simpler version where an actual bike spins a plastic drum end over end. It was before the days of the internet. I shall try to get at it and put it up.

    Over all the concept is sound and should be encouraged.
