I'm not up-to-date with the market prices, but a good gamer's PC would go above 60k. So in my opinion, you can try this one #-Link-Snipped-#

Hi, I will be using it for internet browsing and doing my work in MS office. Would be playing the games sometimes but not that frequently and those games are working on my current P4, 1.6 with onboard AGP so i am not worried about gaming. As far as other applications are concerned, Flex Builder would be i believe the heaviest application i will be using other than ms office, Windows 7..

You should visit wwwtechshopin all prices are available there. And for the use that you have mentioned you donot need a 60k PC but if your really enthusiatic about it. Ask me any number of questions you want. One thing is to build a great PC, But you should also know how to utilize all its resources.

    Processor:
Games are not yet developed to use more than 4 Cores. So if you buy a AMD bulldozer or a Phenom 2 X6 1100T(12000/- max) It should be more than enough.
Graphic Card: ATI 5970 or Nvidia GTX 570 are the one's you should be looking for. ( But it's a total waste of money unless you are runnning a FULL HD game on multiple monitors) the thing with such power graphic cards is that you'll require a 750W power supply with an 8-Pin and 6-Pin connectors from good brand (Cooler master, Thermaltake, Corsair)
so graphic card and power supply combined 25000/- or may be less.

Motherboard and RAM: One thing you'll need to know about buying a very costly motherboard is, unless your planning to overclock your system to the max or use SLI or crossfire technology you donot need a motherboard for more than 6500/- . RAM has to corsair or OCZ 8GB-16GB 6000/- to 10000/- for 1600MHZ
These are the main things for a power full computer.

And the rest a 22" monitor LED/LCD 15000/- (AOC) has to have less than 4ms response time for video editing and high end gaming, otherwise it's useless. Harddisk pick up a 1TB 4000-6000/- (hitachi or segate 32-64MB frame buffer)

    DVD-RW
1500/- any known brands. keyboard and mouse you'll get combo deals ranging from 750-1000 Rs/-

A UPS in India is a must so 3000/- APC

Lastly Cabinet If your buying a power graphic card you'll need very good airflow inside the cabinet so my suggestion is for you to buy a Cooler mastercabinet in the range of
    4000 to 5000/-

Er... HDD rates are going up and down, so it is not a good idea to get a HDD right now. Seagate is doing well in HDDs and you can opt for 1TB 7200rpm, costs about 2800 before and now it is 5700! πŸ˜”

GT 520 is a very very poor choice for a graphic card in my opinion if you want a graphic card that can play crysis 2(hope you have heard of this game) on highest graphics you'll need to spend at least 12000/- for a graphic card and 3500/- for a power supply and games under 1600 resolution will play awesome. If you need FULL HD 1920*1080 resolution 20000/- graphic card and 5000/- power supply

Yes πŸ˜€ the owner of the threading was asking for a high-end system. GT 520 is a cool graphic card for beginners and it's mostly bundled with every newly available system. If you want a hardcore PC and you know how to make use of it's resources then it has to start with AMD 6850 minimum or Nvidia GTX 470.

one more thing in graphic card, technology(Pixel pipe lining, tera FLOPS, Frame buffer) matters more than the memory. if you have a 2GB graphic card with DDR3 like GT 520 and I have an ATI Radeon 5770 with 512 MB with DDR5;My graphic card will beat the 520 in all benchmarks.

If you buy a computer from a branded company instead of assmebling it your self it'll cost you way more. As they but everything in bulk(whole sale) if you need a particular component it'll be very pricey. For example if you need a SMPS of 500W they'll ask you to pay some 3000/- more.

And that compaq computer configuration that's costing 70000/- should not cost more than 45000/- if you assemble it yourself (only the processor is worth making note of other components are pretty much common).

Sounds too good to be true ..... however, i really doubt if that would be in my budget (50,000)
    Lets see ...
    Intel i7 2600K 3.4GHz ------------ Rs. 19,750
Intel DG66WW Motherboard ----- couldn't find its price
    4 x 4 GB DDR3 RAM -------------- Transcend 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1333 MHz memory kit (for Intel Core i7 and Core i5 CPUs)- Rs.7,500
    1 TB Seagate HDD 7200 RPM .................. Rs. 5600
nVidia Cooler Master Cabinet ------------------ Rs. 6,588/-
nVidia GeForce Graphics Card 1GB DDR5 -------------------- Palit GTX460 1GB GDDR5 Sonic Edition Price: Rs. 14,000/- (cheapest that i found online)
Dell 24" LED Monitor ........................ Dell G2410 LED Monitor Price in India – Rs. 14,500/- Indian Rupee (INR)

so, the total as of now with just 4GB RAM and without the price of motherboard is already more than 65,000
Can you please verify these prices?

Buy a cheaper processor something around 10000/-. AMD will actually be cheaper but it'l compromise on the performance but unless your really into it you can't make out too much difference. It's more of a time thing for example if Intel i7 2600K 3.4GHz takes 5sec, AMD Phenom2 X6 will take 10 sec for compression or extraction while using winrar. In computing terms that's huge but for the user sitting in front of the system it shouldn't make much difference. AMD motherboards are also cheaper compared to their intel counterparts.

Never buy transcend RAM for building a great system always have CORSAIR/OCZ/G-SKill.

And you'll need a 500W power supply with a 6-pin connector for that GTX 460 and if your going to use it for gaming then it's not worth to buy a GTX 460, rather buy a GT520 something in that range if its only for videos. It should cost you between 2500 - 4000/-

Here are suggestion which should be included for having the best configuration of PC.

640 GB storage capacity is what someone will get with its SATA configured Hard Drive
6 GB system memory leveraged by DDR3 RAM
Windows 7 Home Premium operating system
Intel second generation Core i7 processo
Logitech Mouse and multimedia Key board.
    2 GB DDR3 graphic N-videa card.

See you are right that PC are more powerful then laptops but if you have such great price range then there are some best #-Link-Snipped-# which come with amazing configuration also.

    Hi,
I want to buy an assembled PC. My requirements are:-
    1. For the development(coding) and testing(using automation tools). Want an excellent processor, motherboard and RAM.
    2. I will use this PC for light games only, and not for high end gaming.
    3. I can compromise on harddisk space and monitor, as its not a priority for me.

Please suggest the Best configuration for this. My budgets is around 20k to 25k.

Yeah, I have said about the processor, go for an Intel Motherboard.
RAM should be Transcend or Corsair.

I think when you are assembling desktop ... Burn all your money on Processor and motherboard.
you can add other things later . but you can't afford new processor and motherboard in future.
  • engg.ashish
    engg.ashish
And in my opinion the more money should be spent on graphics card then processor and motherboard as it will give you more power for games movies music masti but if you are in encoding videos or stuff which uses the processor to full then go for i7 else i5 2500k and a z68 or any compatible motherboard having overclock facility to experiment a bit when your pc become old. And as graphics is more one time investment and can be used on any motherboard even when technology changes but when new processor arrives whole new motherboard is also in market so if u upgrade processor u can use your old graphics card and also that graphic card will become cheaper in some time so u can also try Nvidia sli or ATI crossfireX πŸ˜€
and once again its my opinion πŸ˜‰

Hello - I've gone through the entire thread and have found several interesting facts. I am planning to assemble a Desktop PC for myself. Need help regarding configuration.

    Purpose:-
    1. Mostly Adobe Suite Applications like Photoshop, Premiere, Soundbooth, Illustrator, etc.
    2. Screencasting tools like Camtasia.
    3. Often would love to play games like FIFA, NFS, Max Payne, COD - although not a heavy gamer.
    4. Web Programming & Designing like Dreamweaver, Oracle, Mysql and PHP Servers. Host websites as well.
Budget: - Haven't thought of the maximum limit. But would like to have the best value for money. Hope will get a good config below INR 50,000.
Operating System:- Currently using WIndows 7 Ultimate. Planning to upgrade to Windows 8 soon. What's your suggestion on having dual boot with Linux, although not so keen on Linux.
Drive Space:- Decided to have one 128GB SDD and 1TB X 2 HDD - Your opinion?
Miscellaneous - Nice, sleek looking 21" LCD/LED Monitor, wireless sleek keyboard/mouse, speakers and HD Webcam.
I don't have much knowledge about Graphics Card. Most of the cabinets/cases that are suggested seem to be tooo bulky. Any alternative to have slim, small cabinets which won't compromise on the performance?
    Thanks for your help.

#-Link-Snipped-# : Welcome to CE. Any machine that you'll buy now will basically be powerful enough to run Windows 8. Looking at your needs, it's obvious that you'll need a computer to do more graphics computing and that calls for a capable GPU from NVIDIA / AMD or other competitors. Your budget looks quite good and given that you're looking to build a desktop, I'd consider the following -

    1. At least 4 GB RAM; but would aim for 8 GB, if it fits in the budget.

    2. At least 500 GB HDD; but aim for 1 GB - graphics work is always storage intensive.

    3. 128 GB SSD is quite good; but not really needed; because it adds a hell lot to the cost. What's the price you're looking to pay for the storage system?

I'd invest the money in buying more RAM / better motherboard or GPU power. But that could just be me, because I think SSDs are yet to be priced reasonably.

    4. You should better start researching on the Graphics Cards - because that's going to be the real brain of your graphics-intensive machine. I believe, you can definitely settle for a core i5 (but aim for i7) from Intel for the price. But remember, I'd focus on GPU more than CPU as long as both are compatible.

    5. Wireless mouse and keyboards are 'okay' but know that you'll have to constantly keep changing their batteries. I'm satisfied with my Mac; but have no knowledge of wireless keyboards that work with Windows based machines. I'd strongly recommend a 27" monitor because it beats the overall user experience on all other screens combined. I believe Dell has good options. Make sure your monitor has HDMI / DVI-D ports at least. A standard VGA is quite 1999ish.

For the machine, I'd really not bother about the cabinet size and would go with the one that suits all my needs.

For the monitor, why do you recommend a 27" monitor - any specific reason or example you can state, so that I can better understand it. Would you recommend a dual screen 19" monitors or single 27" monitor?
Moreover, what's the most stylish and the latest Keyboard/Mouse available in the market? 😁

    1. I think we should have a dedicated discussion for GPU selection. I'm not quite sure where to start. We've lot of talented electronics / gadget freaks here who can guide though.

GPU works in parallel with your CPU and takes away all the complex graphics related calculations from it. So if GPU is in place, it will handle all the gaming and graphics stuff and leave the CPU to perform the rest of the math.

    2. That's right, wireless keyboard and mouse don't solve any purpose except that they make the desk look cleaner. The only thing I don't like about wireless stuff is that they need a periodic battery swap. I'd just be fine with a USB powered keyboard & mouse; but Apple doesn't make them anymore, I guess.

    3. 27" monitor is my personal choice. Especially if you're going to do a lot of graphics stuff and gaming on your computer you'll definitely love more real estate. I've used both 21" and 27" monitors and the later is my preference.

    4. Dual screen monitors are nice; but IMHO, they don't give you the same experience as a single big monitor. Agains, it's more of a personal choice. I'd opt for a higher resolution monitor any day over anything else when it comes to display. You're going to stare at your monitor for long time and you definitely don't want to compromise on that.

The most stylish keyboard available in the Market is from Microsoft -> #-Link-Snipped-#. It feels more natural, comfortable; but it's little pricey, I think. I don't have any recommendations about the mouse. I like the Apple Magic Mouse πŸ˜‰ .

Following configuration, I had selected one of option with Intel CPU

    Part price

    INTEL I-7(3770)(3rd gen) 8mb/4core : 18100
    Corsair Vengeance DDR3 4 GB (1 x 4 GB) PC RAM (CMZ4GX3M1A1600C9): 1709
    WD Caviar Blue 500 GB (WD5000AAKX) : 3902
    SAMSUNG LED 20": 6047
Cabinet COOLER MASTER (ELITE 372): 3200
    Intel DH77EB Motherboard: 6773
    Keyboard+mouse: 2000
    Corsair CMPSU-430CXV2UK 430 Watts PSU : 2700

    Total : 44431

In this you need to add 500 or 600 Watts CPU will cost you +1000/- extra.
For GPU , Better to select from newly arrived model. 1GB card will enough for you.
Above prices are from flipkart , but I think, if you assemble from local market you can save 2-3K .

Also note that you should select compatible motherboard. Intel i7 3770 is ivi bridge processor and motherboard should also support this to get optimal performance.
When you are going to shop from local computer market make sure you should also note the product number with model number of parts and don't compromise on that.

Coming to gfx cards, 8 series are ancestors. Gtx 540 and above all are better option. This usually depends upon your budget.

Firstly,I would like to tell you that :

    - Most games are dependent on Graphics card processor's resources & not CPU resources.
    - I would recommend moderate CPU with ultra dope GPU for better performance as I have seen even Dual-Core CPU with hyper-threading with ATI Radeon 7670 running flawless with maxed settings on 720p resolution monitor.

    Anyways,
I will suggest AMD FX 8150 CPU if you wanna save some dimes. (If you got AMD Motherboard)
Else you can go for corei7 2600K which is faster & cooler than AMD FX (& ofcourse costlier)

PS : I will again recommend you to go for mid-end CPU & opt for some high-level GPU like ATI 7970 or 7770 OC version as most games are GPU resource hungry & not dependent on CPU except online FPS games like Battlefield 3.

which is better intel hd 2500 or intel hd 3000
because if i buy intel i3 3rd gen processor, it will have 2500 hd or if i buy intel i3 2nd gen. processor ,it will have 3000 hd graphics.
    what i should choose ?

IMHO, ATI or NVidia GPUs are better than anything from Intel stable.

Now those hd versions of inbuilt gfx of chipset is strictly not for gamers.
But I have a good alternative : Go for AMD APU Processors.
Yeah, AMD A-series APUs launched in India is capable of running latest games with minimum to normal settings -- A perfect choice for casual gamers.

If you have AMD Motherboard & if it supports APU then go for this !
    (Lot better than Intel's CPU)
