The inclusion of BBM Channels in the Blackberry Messenger will allow users to interact with each other on their topic of their interest. Channels include a variety of topics like sports, hobbies, cars, entertainment, fashion and others. Also, it facilitates users to create their own channels based on the topic of interest of the community. More than 250,000 channels have been created on the Blackberry Messenger. They include channels created by international companies like Coca Cola and regional ones like Airtel and Cafe Coffee Day. BBM 2.0 will also have a location sharing feature named, Glympse. This will let users share their location for limited period of time. Users can select this limited time period, after which the location will become private again. BBM users on Android and iPhone will also be able to share images, contacts, calendar items and much more. Further, the cloud-storage service Dropbox has also been integrated with this version. We would like to point that Blackberry smartphones running Blackberry OS 5 and above will get the updated app without Dropbox integration. The update will also have 100 new emoticons added. The size of BBM groups has been increased to 50 users.
Notably, BlackBerry OS5 and above will also be getting an updated app, but without location sharing and Dropbox integration.
