Baidu Yi - An Intensified Competition For Google

#-Link-Snipped-# now released a brand new mobile software platform to give a hard competition for Google. In the process of expanding its mobile service offerings to attract mobile users it released Baidu Yi, which is compatible for Android phones too.

Baidu Yi needs to be preinstalled on the mobile phones and this software will let the user’s access Baidu search engine from any applications. That is this software will let the users to search the new words or things that they encounter while reading e-books, messaging and so on. Although Baidu Yi is not compatible in all mobile operating systems currently, sooner it will be spudded into all other operating systems.

“The Baidu Yi platform will be an important piece of the company's revenue in the future”, Baidu Vice President Jing Wang said in an interview. But he refused to name the handset manufacturers who were going to install Baidu Yi.

While Google is not commenting about this, Baidu also announced about its new home page with newly added features like area for applications download. Now Baidu users can customise their home page to display certain specific applications, links to websites they like, and content posted on third-party social networking sites.

Already when Google’s China search engine moved to Hong Kong last year Baidu overtook much of Google's share of the local search market. Thus the release of Baidu Yi and their plan to release their own mobile phone OS sooner is expected to let the Google worry about their growth in Asia.
