Autonomous Braking System For Cars Is Around The Corner

New European Legislation requires the car to include an emergency self braking system, also known as Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB). The braking system might include radar, laser or video to detect any object or pedestrian in the way. When a situation of accident is almost unavoidable, the software applies brakes and leads to a safer condition. So, with a view to maintain safety on roads, the European Commission makes it compulsory for commercial vehicles to add up AEB the by end of November 2013.

Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme) will include the new technology in it's assessment from 2014, which will entitle five star rating to AEB enabled cars. It is expected that the automatic braking system will highly reduce the rate of accidents in Europe. Looking forward to see a similar technology in India soon.
