Project Abstract / Summary : This project decribes an Automatic Waste Segregation, a prototype for segregation of metallic, dry and wet waste materials using proximity sensors. The economic value of waste is best realized when it is segregated. Currently there is no such system of segregation of dry, wet and metallic waste at household level. This prototype proposes an Automatic Waste Segregator (AWS) which is cheap, easy to use solution for a segregation system at household, so that it can be sent directly to the processing. It is defined to sort the refuse into metallic waste, wet waste and dry waste. The AWS employs parallel resonant impedance sensing mechanism to identify metallic items and capacitive sensors to distinguish between dry and wet waste.

Why did you choose to work on this project topic : As waste segregation has been one of main problems in the country and especially our current city ie BANGALORE had heard times segregating the waste. So to resolve this problem technically this problem has been chosen. In future if this protype has been developed and improved the segregating problem can be easily reduced and the waste can be processed and recycled easily.

Project Highlights : As we have selected a practical or a major problem in all the cities, this competition has been a greatest platform to showcase our prototype. So if win this project it would be a great opportunity for us to develop and improve our project according to the requirement and reduce our prevent one of the major problem of the country.
