At $229 billion, Apple's bigger than Microsoft

For the first time after 1989, Apple Inc. stole the crown of 'The Biggest Technology Company' from Microsoft. Apple Inc.'s share rose by 2.8 percent on NASDAQ on Wednesday giving it the total market valuation of USD 229 billion. At the end of the day, Apple was worth $222 billion while Microsoft was about $219 billion. Microsoft hit a 7 month low $25.01 and Apple hit $244.11 on NASDAQ.The news certainly is not good for Microsoft as it says goodbye to its long time senior executives behind Microsoft's fun & entertainment product.

#-Link-Snipped-#Microsoft's CEO, Steve Ballmer, however has commented that he isn't concerned about the news. He said that his company is a very good competitor and its a very long game. He added that he's very happy at the fact that out of ever 100 computer purchases, 94 choose a Windows based computer and Microsoft is still the most profitable technology company in the world.

It looks like Apple's designer products are doing extremely well. The company almost went out of business way back in 1990s. The iPod got Apple back in business and iPhone did magic to boost Apple's share in the tech market.

Should Microsoft be concerned about this? How do you think they should fight back? Tell us.
