Are brands like Micromax and Xolo a threat to giants like Samsung and HTC?

Nowadays, everyone is looking for more features to hold in their hands. A decent good looking phone maybe the one with 8MP+ camera, secondary cam at 2MP+, 8GB internal storage, quad core 1.5Ghz processor, 1GB RAM, dual sim, and latest android version all boxed behind a 5-inch screen. Where this configuration is likely to overshot ₹18-20,000 if you are looking within the SAMSUNG or HTC store, you can easily satisfy your needs if you look ahead for Canvas series or Xolo A series. And guess what, you save 7-8000 easily. When smartphones were publically defined, Samsung ruled the market for a handsome 2-3 years but what about now?

Are the smaller corporations likely to throw big giants out of the place?

Well you can frame it that way but right now you can everything you want in brands like Micromax. The only reason holding them back is their popularity. When micromax launched its first model, the below poverty line users adapted it. So now whatever it launches, the middle class market thinks its rubbish. low esteemed stuff.

Well one great limit Samsung offers is that the internal memory is limited and so higher number of apps can't be installed in it. This makes it really hectic for avid app users

However the Micromax mobiles use external SD cards as memory and thereby they are really a boon and can be extended based on the users need

Well this mainly depends on the model and make of the device. The range of device you are talking about has gingerbread most probably and they come for around 10-11 grands. At that cost, you get micromax high end range phones for which Samsung charges 20 grands. So thats the point here. These companies are producing good phones and selling at a cheaper rate. And thats where they can overthrow the giants.
