Today is 1st April, the Fool’s Day. All of internet is conspiring to fool you, major tech giants and websites are cooking up harmless pranks that will either make you chuckle over your gullibility or grind your teeth for wasting your time in the beginning of the month. The CE team is compiling all the April fool’s day from the internet in one page for your viewing pleasure. You too can contribute posts in this thread. We start with the usual suspects, Google.

Google Maps Pac Man Mode

Google Maps Pac Man

Google was a day early on this prank as it unveiled the Pac Man mode on Google Maps. When you visit the website you can see the Pac Man game button on the bottom left alongside the satellite maps mode. When you hover over the button you can see a “Ready!” sign and once you hit it you are in for a day of wasted productivity. The streets on the map turn into a maze in which you have to manoeuvre Pac-Man and try to escape from Blinky, Pinky, Inky and Clyde. The best part is that it works on any map, whether it’s New York’s Avenues or New Delhi’s Connaught Place. Try it and let us know how you fare in the game.

Smartbox by Inbox By Gmail By Google

Google is trying its best to fool the public but they cannot the CrazyEngineers. Google next prank on 1st April is Smartbox. Google describes the Smartbox as a better, smarter mailbox that fuses physical mail with everything you love about the electronic kind. Google tries to make the promotional video as convincing as possible but it spoils the prank by giving the video the ridiculous aforementioned title. Google says that the smartbox is currently on a “field trial—stuck in the ground, in a field” and only Inbox by Gmail customers can apply for this service before 2nd April. Well played Google.

    Samsung Galaxy Blade Edge

There have been many jokes on the futility of Samsung Galaxy Edge’s edge screen and Samsung has taken responsibility to make a full fledged April Fool’s day prank with the Samsung Galaxy Blade Edge. Samsung says it’s a new knife for chefs that are more advanced than ever. While the knife has a razor sharp blade for toughness it has a ceramic knife for better grip. No matter what your strengths are, the Samsung Galaxy Blade Edge is able to chop 50% faster by employing sensors and algorithms. With Samsung Knox security you will never cut your fingers again. Murderers will not be able to use the blade because the human blood sensor will make the knife unusable on the slightest hint of blood. And yes you will also be able to measure the temperature of your food for better cooking.

    Microsoft MS-DOS Mobile

    AF2015-Featured-Image

As it turns out Microsoft has put a lot of work in making this happen. When you install the MS-DOS Mobile application from the Windows Store you actually get the thing working. When I tried out the application on my Nokia Lumia 730, I was pretty surprised. Commands like date and time work but when you hit <dir>, all comes undone. It shows a list of files that are not even in the phone, files like autoexec.bat are even displayed. The camera command option is particularity awesome. Filters like ASCII, B&W and CGA will definitely amuse you. Overall a well executed prank, which made me thing whether it was a prank or not.

    Amazon India’s Fake Products

Amazon India announced two new products on its Twitter feed, the #-Link-Snipped-# and #-Link-Snipped-#. The Silicon Styler is an electronic moustache styler fitted with German magnetic resonance technology. All you have to do is wear it over your mouth and it will style your moustache with pre-programmed settings. Amazon has even gone a step further by giving the product verified reviews. Next in line we have the equally ridiculous Biovap Mark III that disintegrates your biodegradable waste and generated a scented vapour from it. Both the products are available for Rs. 995 only.

When you click on the link, you are directed to other prank products like, Quick Clean instant drycleaner, lucid dream analyser and exotic animals. Amazon also lists some handy ways to prank your friends. I liked the “Revenge of the Office Colleague” very much.

    Flipkart’s Run for Discounts Offer

    Flipkart

Flipkart asked its customers #-Link-Snipped-# to activate a new offer on their mobile app. All the user has to do is activate GPS, perform a GPS tracked exercise such as walking and running and generate discount coupons for various products. Once you click on the link you are redirected to a tacky T-Shirt link.
