Apple said a big NO to EPEAT Certification
EPEAT RegistryCertification is a comprehensive environmental rating that helps identify greener computers and other electronic equipment. The Gold, Silver and Bronze rating of The EPEAT system was conceived and developed For participating manufacturers, to showcase and validate greener designs and cleaner production.
On a blog EPEAT mentioned that, "We regret that Apple will no longer be registering its full 39 products suite for EPEAT certification. We hope that they will decide to do so again at some point in future."
According to EPEAT CEO Robert Frisbee, Apple's controversial decision to make its new line of Retina-Display Macbook Pro laptops difficult, if not impossible to disassemble, would make the product line ineligible for EPEAT certification. Also, gluing the battery and the display to the laptop is an environmental no-no as far as EPEAT's concerned: "If the battery is glued to the case it means you can't recycle the case and you can't recycle the battery"
