Apple Maps To Replace Google Maps In iOS 6

We know that #-Link-Snipped-# and #-Link-Snipped-# aren't great buddies but 'Maps' is a serious business for both companies. Until now, Apple had to rely on maps provided by Google to offer navigation features in their iOS powered devices. But iOS 6 may just completely drop Google Maps for Apple's own Map software, says iOS 6: Apple drops Google Maps, debuts in-house 'Maps' with incredible 3D mode - 9to5Mac. We've a strong reason to believe the news because Apple picked up three maps companies between 2009 - 2011: Placebase in 2009, Poly9 in 2010 and C3 technologies in 2011. Apple engineers must have invested considerable amount of time in developing their own version of maps. Various sources confirm that the upcoming Apple Maps feature is sure to 'blow your head off'.

We surely don't know what that means, but looking at history we know for sure that if Apple decides to launch its own maps software, it won't be a plain copy of the existing maps. We've a strong reason to believe that Apple Maps will offer photo-realistic maps and navigation. We'll have to wait until the Apple WWDC conference scheduled between June 11-15 at San Francisco.
