News about Apple working on a heads-up display or video glasses has been around for the last few years and the company is busy gathering patents for their invention of the same. Recently, the US Patent Office published a new patent application from Apple regarding a Retina Display-like quality display powered by a small battery for future video glasses.

Though this is just a 'design patent' and we don't even know whether it will ever get converted into an end product or not, but it seems interesting to think that Apple's efficient industrial designers and engineers are up to something innovative.
