I support him. The corruption in India is a very serious problem and it need to be removed. Although i don't agree with his method on fasting till death, but if he succeeded in getting the Jan Lokpal bill from parliament, then it will be a huge step. Hope at least now this government will understand how much this country is worried about corruption.

Salient features of Jan Lokpal Bill

Drafted by Justice Santosh Hegde, Prashant Bhushan and Arvind Kejriwal, this Bill has been refined on the basis of feedback received from public on website and after series of public consultations. It has also been vetted by and is supported by Shanti Bhushan, J M Lyngdoh, Kiran Bedi, Anna Hazare etc. It was sent to the PM and all CMs on 1st December.

1. An institution called LOKPAL at the centre and LOKAYUKTA in each state will be set up
2. Like Supreme Court and Election Commission, they will be completely independent of the governments. No minister or bureaucrat will be able to influence their investigations.
3. Cases against corrupt people will not linger on for years anymore: Investigations in any case will have to be completed in one year. Trial should be completed in next one year so that the corrupt politician, officer or judge is sent to jail within two years.
4. The loss that a corrupt person caused to the government will be recovered at the time of conviction.
5. How will it help a common citizen: If any work of any citizen is not done in prescribed time in any government office, Lokpal will impose financial penalty on guilty officers, which will be given as compensation to the complainant.
6. So, you could approach Lokpal if your ration card or passport or voter card is not being made or if police is not registering your case or any other work is not being done in prescribed time. Lokpal will have to get it done in a month’s time. You could also report any case of corruption to Lokpal like ration being siphoned off, poor quality roads been constructed or panchayat funds being siphoned off. Lokpal will have to complete its investigations in a year, trial will be over in next one year and the guilty will go to jail within two years.
7. But won’t the government appoint corrupt and weak people as Lokpal members? That won’t be possible because its members will be selected by judges, citizens and constitutional authorities and not by politicians, through a completely transparent and participatory process.
8. What if some officer in Lokpal becomes corrupt? The entire functioning of Lokpal/ Lokayukta will be completely transparent. Any complaint against any officer of Lokpal shall be investigated and the officer dismissed within two months.
9. What will happen to existing anti-corruption agencies? CVC, departmental vigilance and anti-corruption branch of CBI will be merged into Lokpal. Lokpal will have complete powers and machinery to independently investigate and prosecute any officer, judge or politician.

In my opinion, if we really want to support Anna Hazare, we should spread the message through words (by speaking out) among all those who have wrong impression of the politicians (I mean their supporters).
Lighting candles doesn't serve any purpose. We should support his cause by knowing the reason behind and think twice before shooing away the traffic policeman by thrusting a 100 rupee note in his hand.

It feels nice to see people churning out their support for Anna. Yes he is fighting against a corrupt system...But does it seem the right time for the agitation? He should have waited for some time at least for the amendments to the Lokpal Bill which were expected within a fortnight or so... Still nothing wrong... It was going to happen anyways...
P.S. Funny to see big celebrities and politicians having their share in the hype... Do you think any one of them knows where the nearest ration shop is located???

Anna Hazare is a 72 tear old man who is fighting for us. It is a shame that we could not do this in last 60 years. May God bless Hazareji.

I am posing 10 Questions to you. actually 11 to answer. After this campaign is successful we will be able to answer them.

Now most important 11th question. Why are we still calling our Nation India?
are we still slaves?

@Ishu: The video made me speechless. There are so many people to talk, to criticize the people and the system, but no one seriously wants to do something for the country.
Ok yes the bill has been passed but I seriously doubt its correct implementation.[IMG]

It is always believed that the higher authority has to be strict against corruption and false means but I personally believe the reverse. It is always we who bribe them and spoil their habits.Everyone talk of corrupted departments in every office, but excuse me, its only we who have made them the way they are. If we people combine against all these practices, then only we can think of a neat and a happy place to live.

We all are very mean and always want self benefit. We always have the backdoor for everything. And we don't mind using them. India is one such country where socialism and team work is promoted but how many of us want our team (collectively) to progress and not just we, rarely any.

We all have to understand the situation and the way we are going... We should do something solid against all that is prevailing in our society. Lets take a pledge that we'll check for the proper implementation. Anna Sir has started the journey, lets decide to continue it till we reach our destination ie corruption free India.

Bulletin from the cause: India Against Corruption
Go to Cause

Ours is a secular, non-partisan movement: Arvind Kejriwal

{ Activist Arvind Kejriwal, who has played a key role in the Jan Lokpal bill. }

Many allegations have been made in an attempt to discredit Anna Hazare's movement against corruption. At the outset, let me make it clear that this movement has nothing to do with BJP or RSS, as is being alleged. It has no alignment with any political party.

Anna's statement on Modi was in response to a specific question asked at a press conference. He just said that good work had been done in rural areas of Bihar and Gujarat. Anna has already clarified that his statement was based on what he has been reading about these two states in the media. He has also clarified he strongly believes in communal harmony and is against any kind of communal violence.

The strong secular credentials of the movement are clear from the fact that every evening, at Jantar Mantar, there used to be "sarv dharm prarthna" of all religions. Mufti Shamoom Qasmi and archbishop of Delhi Vincent M Concessao are among the founders of this movement. Mahmood A Madani has been an active supporter.

Some people are asking also how were the names for the committee decided by the civil society. The whole movement was around Jan Lokpal bill. Therefore, such people should be there on the committee who could explain each clause and section of this bill in committee meetings. Those who drafted the bill were natural choices.

Anna's fast is being termed as a form of blackmail. Faced with immense corruption, what should the people of India do? We petitioned the highest authorities. We met everyone who gave us time. We pleaded. There was no response. Lokpal bill is pending in Parliament since 1968. So, should we go back home and keep on suffering the Kalmadis and Rajas? Several letters written by Anna to the Prime Minister did not elicit any response. It is only when he wrote about his fast that the PM responded.

By fasting, one invites suffering upon oneself. This melts the hearts of the people. This is what Anna's fast did. It is not Anna's fast that the government responded to. If he had sat on fast with no public support, the government would have force-fed him after a few days.

Anna's fast touched a chord with the citizens suffering injustices and huge corruption. It is the overwhelming public support that the government responded to. Is that undemocratic? Is that unconstitutional?

We are not forcing them to accept our bill. All that we are asking for is a credible platform for discussions with the government, through which a strong anti-corruption bill could be drafted, which would then be presented in Parliament. We never sought to bypass Parliament.

Another issue being raised is that if this bill were enacted, it would create a supercop. This is wrong. All that the Jan Lokpal bill does is to make CBI independent from the shackles of government and to make CVC's recommendations binding. These are longstanding demands supported by many court judgments.

Jan Lokpal bill also seeks to provide relief to the common man when he faces demand of bribes in his day to day life. Today, IB has unfettered powers. Income Tax can theoretically summon the Prime Minister. Every law enforcement agency has powers over the top people in power. Does it mean that they are all supercops?

The politicians and bureaucrats have been looting the country. Isn't it ironical that these looters have termed those struggling against their loot as blackmailers? Unfortunately, some people are actually buying that argument.

Rather than finding fault with Anna and his movement, can we get the debate back on fighting corruption? Beating Anna would benefit the vested interests. Concentrating on corruption would help the country. It is time to make your choice.

LET THEM HEAR THE ANGER OF THE PEOPLE. ऐ खाकनशीनों उठ बैठो, वह वक्त करीब आ पहुंचा है .

Thanks for becoming a part of the fight to make corruption free India and set on the journey towards a just, transparent and accountable system.

...It has been more than two weeks since our first victory at Jantar Mantar and since then a lot of things have happened. The political parties have left no stone unturned to malign the image of the five nominees of the civil society but they have stood strong against all odds.

The first meeting of the drafting committee on 16th April was an introductory meet and the actual drafting will start in the second meeting which is on 2nd May.

It is imperative that we show the politicos that the public is not sleeping and is observing the smear campaign against the civil society. We, the public, wants the Jan Lokpal to be passed soon and thus on 1st of May, 2011 we have planned a public gathering @ all over india.(Find your city below.)

Bring your family members, your neighbors, your acquaintances. Come in numbers...

Looks like this thread is attracting more views than anticipated.
I am sure CEans won't stay back and show their support for the movement.

It's in news, "Anna Hazare Arrests Govt."
They have agreed to 15 day fast on Ram Leela Ground (which will be extended if need be)
Apparently the Govt feels 74 year old Anna won't last for more than 15 days and in fact they are showing slight inclination towards discussing the people's version of the bill.
Let's look forward positively.
