Amazon Hints At A Second Hand Digital Downloads Store

While buying second hand stuff you never expect flawless quality, but what about digital downloads like mp3s, e books, they sure remain brand new forever. So keeping in mind this business opportunity, Amazon has obtained patent for a system that will enable reselling if digital purchases from its website. This system keeps all of your digital downloads in a cloud based locker making sure that you can only access the content by streaming or downloading it to your devices. Later when you want to sell of your collection the system makes sure that no copies of the media is present on any of your devices and then locks you out of the files as soon as transfer of ownership of these files takes place.

The patent application covers not only media downloads like music, books and TV shows but also computer applications. This patent was filed way back in 2009 but the USPTO office took four years to grant this patent to Amazon. Amazon is not the first one to start this kind of second hand store; ReDigi has already started a cloud based media reselling service.
