Alcatel OneTouch POP 8S Android Tablet Priced At Rs. 10,499 In India
The brand born out of a wedlock between Alcatel-Lucent (French) and TCL Communication (Chinese) is called Alcatel OneTouch. The company has been steadily introducing its mobile devices in the Indian market. This time around, the latest addition to its portfolio is a brand new tablet called 'Alcatel OneTouch POP 8S' that is being launched in India via Flipkart in an exclusie tie-up. The 8-inch tablet is priced at Rs. 10499 and with that price tag, the device will compete against the likes of Nexus 7, Xiaomi Mi Pad (slightly higher priced) and Asus FonePad 7. Let's take a look at the features highlighted by the company.
Weighing about 320 grams and at 7.9 mm thickness, the OneTouch POP 8S tablet features a gigantic 4060 mAh battery under the hood. The 8 inch IPS display has a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. Running on a 1.2 GHz Quad Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 MSM8916 processor, the POP 8S comes loaded with 1 GB RAM and 8 GB internal memory (storage expandable up to 64 GB via microSD card).
The tablet is powered by Android 4.4 KitKat OS out-of-the-box and we half expect the company to shoot and upgrade to Lollipop. There's a 5 megapixel AF rear primary camera and a 2 megapixel front snapper on the device.
The usual features such as the G-sensor or A-GPS are available on the tab. For the user's connectivity needs, there's support for Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, a Micro-USB port and a 3.5mm audio jack. There's just a single SIM card slot and it support 4G LTE connectivity.
Mr. Praveen Valecha, Regional Director for Alcatel OneTouch APAC Business Unit, India believes that with POP 8S tablet they are taking the first step in the journey of delighting customers with their tablet range.
As of now, there's no listing of the POP 8S tablet on the e-commerce portal Flipkart, but we are hoping that it will go live soon. What are your thoughts about the new Android tablet in the market? Share with us in comments below.
