I was wondering some days ago, while everyone is showing off their products for CES 2012, where are the guys at Acer? They did strike and that too with world's thinnest ultrabook which is just 15mm thick at its thickest point. Other than that Acer also announced new ultrabook series Timeline and brand new AcerCloud.

Acer Aspire S5, apart from being incredibly thin, has some really good features. The ultrabook has 13.3 inch LCD display and weigh 2.97 pounds. The machine would be powered by intel Core i-series processor. It has thunderbolt interface to connect with peripherals. Thunderbolt boost the transfer speed between system and other devices like USB, eSATA etc.  It is worth noticing before Aspire S5, thunderbolt was present in Apple’s system only. The biggest attraction of this ultrabook is Acer MagicFip I/O. Now, it’s a special part in the back of the ultrabook which contains USB 3.0, HDMI and thunderbolt port. This is a flip-out port panel  and it can be controlled by a dedicated key available on keyboard. While Acer is silent on price of the product, Aspire S5 is expected to ship in Q2 2012.

Sinking more into ultrabook market, Acer announced a new series of ultrabooks named TimeLine. There will be two versions of TimeLine – 14 inch and 15 inch. Both, TimeLine and Ultrabooks, have an amazing start time of 1.5 second (instant time-on) and 8 hours of battery life. Acer also announced its presence in cloud market with AcerCloud. AcerCloud includes three service namely PicStream which is a photo sharing service, AcerCloudDocs and clear.fi Media. Acer, surprisingly, didn’t say much about its new tablet which is supposed to run on quad core processor and reportedly has the highest resolution (1280*800) yet.
