Acer And Lenovo Plan To Launch Windows 8 Tablets In Q3 Of 2012

Just few days away from CES 2012, reports have sprung up about the launch of #-Link-Snipped-# from two PC manufacturing giants, Acer and Lenovo. Though we could have expected to see them at CES but sources say they will debut in the third quarter of the year.

This year loads of quad-core smartphones and Android based tablets are on the list to be unveiled along with some Ultrabooks and hopefully we would also see some devices carrying the Windows 8 platform. Microsoft is definitely going to leave their mark at this year's CES, as this would be their#-Link-Snipped-# with their keynote by CEO Steve Ballmer. So we could expect some more details on Windows 8, though unclear about his talks on the platform's tablets.

The reports of Windows 8 tablets in development and release have come from various manufacturers but the latest to confirm their schedule are Lenovo and Acer. The tablets will be based on Windows 8 and Intel's Clover Trail platform. Though Intel is ready to unveil their latest Medfield processors aimed at Android based smartphones and tablets but PC manufacturers would like to stay on the Clover Trail platform as the Medfield processors won't be having the juice to cope up with ARM processors considering the lack in performance and power saving features.

With Microsoft being a trusted brand, these Windows 8 tablets seems more to be aimed at enterprise market as we had seen HP Slate with Windows 7, which debuted at CES 2010. Though Windows based tablets have had limited success so far, it's tough time now for Microsoft to compete in a market dominated by Android and iOS.
