Project Abstract / Summary : ABSTRACT
An increased micro pores in the activated carbon leads to improved absorption of Low frequency noise(less than 250 Hz). Therefore activated carbon is made into a product. It is necessary to have a base material to carry the activated carbon in an efficient manner. The base material should have the properties like maximum thickness, more fiber per unit volume, higher bulk density and porosity. Therefore, an attempt was made for controlling Low frequency noise by introducing cotton web coated with activated carbon. The fibrous web made from cotton with different GSM (Grams per Square Meter) was used for the studies. For adding activated carbon on the surface of the fiber, Phenolic novolac resin was used. From the study, it is noticed that the increase in GSM (Grams per Square meter) of fibrous web shows best results in sound absorption study and presence of activated carbon enhances the sound absorption behavior. Activated carbon of 75% on the weight of material shows better results in all the cases. Instead of using thermocol, plaster of paris and glass fibre ,our cotton web coated with activated carbon can be used which has a more absorption of sound when comparing those materials which is used mostly for false ceiling, in theatres and industries.

Sound is, often defined as a traveling wave, which is an oscillation of pressure transmitted through a solid, liquid, or gas, composed of frequencies within the range of hearing and of a level sufficiently strong to be heard, or the sensation stimulated in organs of hearing by such vibrations.For humans, hearing is normally limited to frequencies between about 12 Hz and 20000 Hz (20 kHz), although these limits are not definite since the upper limit generally decreases with human age. The noise is a term often used to refer to an unwanted sound.
The industrialization and mobilization of human endeavor have lead to increased noise production across the full range of noise frequencies, its leads to a global problem for human well-being .The controlling of noise in the specified area is one of the difficult task in the present environment. Hence, many researchers could be concentrated in this area for avoiding nuisance created by the noise.
IMPORTANCE OF OUR PROJECT :

By using our product the efficiency of sound absorption will be more when compare to the present materials. Economic based it is low cost. It has high temperature performance, rigidity, chemical resistance and Eco-friendly product. Protect human from noise pollution.
FUTURE SCOPE :
By using our material the noise absorption will be more. So for more industries the noise can be reduced.
