We cannot do that simply because deleting a thread involves deleting other's posts as well. If a thread needs to be deleted, mods will be happy to do it, if appropriate reasons are provided. Unless 'delete' is the only option; I recommend locking of the threads. The ability however lies with the mods. -

Yes, That is a good thing to say. We request the moderators to do it and they take their own time to delete it, while there may be something in the thread which may tarnish one or many members' image. Do you want the people to wait for the moderator? Thanks for that piece of information.
At least give a provision to show if a mod is online or not. Mods are shown in the same place where the members are shown. Why can't they be shown in a separate line? How are we supposed to know if some moderator is online?
From yesterday I have been requesting the deletion of a thread, and it is still there. The thread has an ugly post. the word h*** is used in it. No one wants to delete it, no one wants to take any action against that. Interesting!
Sorry If I sounded rude anywhere! I never meant to hurt anyone. But I wanted to let the people responsible to know that CE is a growing forum. And we must eliminate everything which will make CE look bad.
Sorry everyone!
Biggie, Sorry.
You may delete this post if you think this is too much. But I want you to read this. -

Relax friend! Such situations are very rare on CE. Mods have different username colors and they can be identified easily by any of the members. Deleting a thread is the decision taken by the moderator. As I said, deletion of any thread is a bigger decision as it involves deletion of others posts as well. User reserves the right to alter the contents of the posts he/she made.
PS: I'm deleting the thread that you reported. -

Chill buddy... A better suggestion :- Members should themselves be aware of what they are posting and creating a thread about.aj_ondutyYes, That is a good thing to say. Why open such a thread or post such content which you later intend to delete...
So, THINK before you post 😛 -

I agree, the best way to manage content is through editing and deleteing individual posts or closing threads by moderators. I'm not aware of any forum where members have the ability to delete threads or posts (except for a brief window right after creating the post). Members can help by reporting posts, being familar with forum guidelines and reviewing their own posts before they click on the post button making them public. -

@all: I am glad that the post is now deleted. I didn't mean to use abusive language at all.
The word heck just means : a mild exclamation of surprise or irritation
I apologize if I hurt anyone. Let's get back to work 😀 -

Oh.. so that h*** word is heck.. Hmm.. I was breaking my head with what abusive word starts with h???
Between, can members delete the individual posts made by them? If so, how? I dont want to delete any post, but just wish to know.. -
@thebigk • Nov 12, 2010
Members cannot delete individual posts. However they can edit their own posts. The content deletion right lies with the mods. The system automatically detects the words it finds objectionable and replaces the trailing characters with stars.
