The much awaited $35 #-Link-Snipped-#Â was nowhere to be seen in the market. Blame it all to the disputes between the Indian Government and Datawind. The Aakash 2 or Ubislate 7+ is about to be available and we now have #-Link-Snipped-# that Aakash 2 will be getting the Android 4.0 update within six to eight weeks of its availability.
#-Link-Snipped-#
We already know that Aakash 2 will be having better hardware than the previous generation Aakash tablet. It will be sporting a Cortex A8 700MHz processor with a 3200 mAh battery. It will also be having a 7-inch capacitive touch screen display with out of the box Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The 256MB RAM and 2GB of internal storage is still the same as we had in the older Aakash tablet.
According to CEO of Datawind, Suneet Singh Tuli, the tablet can expected an upgrade, as and when the prices of hardware components reduce, may be to the dual-core Cortex A9 processor by the year end. The Indian Government has set a budget for getting hold of 5 million units of the Aakash 2 this year.
This time for Aakash 2, the testing project has been transferred from IIT-Rajasthan to IIT-Bombay where about 100,000 units will be purchased by the institute for the project. So expect an upgraded version at the same price and this could make it the cheapest Android 4.0 tablet.
