A question on measurement

Q:Jan is baking. She needs 4 cups of sugar. Her problem is that she only has a 1/2 cup measure and a 3/4 cup measure. What is the least number of scoops that she could make in order to get 4 cups? Explain your answer.

    She has only 3/4 and 1/2 measuring cups.
    The least number of scoops required is 6.

    3/4 * 4 = 3 cups
    1/2 * 2 = 1 cup.

    Totally 4 cups. So the answer is 6.
