    Hi. I was trying to sketch a gear at SolidWorks, but i didn't understand what it means with 'lay off the distance' . What should i do here?

    #-Link-Snipped-# : Involute profile is drawn when you unwrap a thread wound on a cylinder. Here lay off means you will have to measure the distance A0A1 on circumference of circle and make an intercept on the line A1B1 . Similarly on A2B2 you need to cut an intercept of length A0A2 which is equal to twice of A0A1.
