ok now on the topic:A group of four dutch students have developed a new gearbox called " Controlled Rotation System " which they claim to have maximum efficiency, maintenance free, lubrication free, long life. They had explained that this gearbox uses only two disc's connected by a strong belt and free from any gears and also added that this two disc's will be run with the help of digital operated hydraulic oil pump which change the diameter of the disc leading to acceleration and deceleration. They started this project and build a prototype called " dual slide gear" for bicycles and they developed it for cars. They claim that it is completely different from CVT and they had got patent for it.The first prototype was built with the dimensions as follows :30 x 22 x 18 centimetres. It is best suited for electric cars which run at constant RPM.What's your view on this gearbox?Do you really think it is different from CVT?
Following link will give you more info on it:#-Link-Snipped-#

Even though it is not exactly a CVT, it is based on its principle.
