It still faces a lot of barriers though in 3D TV expansion. NPD, a market research group, released some findings regarding the customer interest in 3D TVs. The research found that 45% of the people won’t buy a 3D TV citing price as a barrier, while other 42% is reluctant because it requires special 3D glasses. These figures are increasing, causing concern for the 3D TV makers. According to NPD, the same research conducted last year revealed 37% cited price as a barrier and 35% cited the glasses.

But In-Stat study says that consumer may not have a choice left soon. The makers are constantly upgrading their TVs by adding 3D capabilities, especially the bigger screen sets. And if you demand a bigger screen, you will also be provided with 3D facilities, irrespective of your requirements.

According to In-Stat prediction, till 2015, some 300 million households will own a 3D TV set.
