11.6-inch, 2GHz Tablet From Samsung With Retina Display

Rumours suggesting iPad 3 being launched with retina display and higher resolution has been floating around for quite a long time. But it seems that this time Samsung will be winning the race by introducing their ultra high resolution tablet before iPad 3 comes to the market.

The new Samsung Galaxy Tab will be featuring a 11.6-inch screen with a display resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels with retina display. The tablet is expected to have a thin bezel so that it can pack in the 11.6 inch screen in the same dimension as of the 10.1 inch version of the Tab. With the bigger screen it is expected to have an aspect ratio of 16:10.

Some other specifications include a dual-core Exynos 5250 processing unit clocked at 2GHz. Given the Exynos chip used, the device could even support Stereoscopic 3D, so it's a wait-and-watch for us until the Tab is launched. The Tablet will be running Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) along with Android Beam allowing easy syncing with any Galaxy Nexus phones around. Till now there hasn't been any tablet in the market running on Android 4.0 platform, so this might be one of the unique selling points for the Tab unless something else comes up before its launch.

The tablet would also be supporting wireless docking feature which would allow easy streaming of medias and games to HDTVs (seems like there's tough competition for Apple's Airplay now). Samsung will be launching the tablet at Mobile World Congress in February 2012 to be held at Barcelona.
