100 tera bits per second - 1200 DVDs / sec - Through the air! Blinding Speed

Using coiled beams of light Alan Willner, an engineer at the University of Southern California, moved 100 terabits (the equivalent of 2,600 DVDs) per second through the air.

This is far from becoming commercial yet till a cable to carry the light is made.
