Welcome to CrazyEngineers, Julia. Let's look at the difference between generative AI and predictive AI.

TL;DR: The key difference between Generative AI and Predictive AI is in the output they produce. Generative AI produces new and original content such as text, audio, image while Predictive AI uses data to produce accurate predictions about future events.

    Generative AI:

Generative AI learns the patterns and distributions from the data-set provided to it and uses techniques like Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) and Variational Autoencoders (VAEs) to create unique and original output that did not exist before.

Generative AI are trained on large and diverse data-set to capture the underlying complexity and generate original content.

    Predictive AI:

The main goal of Predictive AI is to analyze the patterns in the historical data provided to it and make accurate forecasts. It employs techniques like regression, classification and time-series analysis to identify relationships and trends in the data. It will need a structured dataset to make a prediction. It's often used to support the decision making process.

I hope this helps. If you have follow-up questions, let us know.
