Is Data Science a good career option for an engineering graduate?

I’m an engineering graduate and I’m considering moving toward Data Science or Data Analytics. I have some basic programming knowledge, but I’m not sure what skills I should focus on before applying for entry-level roles.

Should I start with Python and SQL, or should I learn statistics first? I also see many courses covering machine learning, Power BI, Tableau and Generative AI. Is it necessary to learn all of these as a beginner?

I’d also like to know how important projects are when applying for jobs. Would a few practical projects using real datasets be enough to demonstrate basic skills?
