YouTube 'Blur Those Faces' Feature Is Here; Makes Concealing Identity Easy

It is not rare to want to put up a video without revealing the identities of the people involved in it. It can be a video of a perfect dance move or a perfect goal. The thought that would’ve crossed your mind in that situation: “How I wish I could blur the faces in a video!” Well, looks like YouTube heard your wish. It has come up with a feature to blur the faces in a video if you wish to do so.

Now, you can go ahead and post those videos of yours with out revealing your true identity. The civil rights protesters, in particular, can post the videos of their protests and still not reveal their identity to the people against whom they are protesting.

Here is how you can do it. All that you need to do is enter YouTube’s video enhancement tool and click the option “Blur Faces.” Now, you can preview the blurred-out video and replace the original video with this new video. That is it. You are done. That is indeed real simple isn’t it?

There is a tiny possible problem. YouTube says that some times it has difficulty with detecting faces due to different factors like angle, lighting, obstructions and video quality. There is another disadvantage. You can not choose to blur selected faces alone. If you decide to blur the faces in a video, then all the faces in that video are blurred. But the fact that they have tried their best to come up with something like this is commendable. Wondering when do you get to start using it? Today! YouTube is releasing this feature today across the 43 countries and in the 60 available languages.
