Victoria's Secret Designer Designing The Next-Gen Space Suits! Whoa!

Victoria's Secret costume designer Ted Southern, best known for his angel wings, has teamed up with an ex-Roscosmos (Russian Space Agency) employee - Nikolay Moiseev - to develop the next generation spacesuits! Not the most obvious of pairing, but their passion interest in engineering materials and space suits is what got them together in 2009 - in a NASA competition. From there, the duo founded Final Frontier Design, where they are molding lighter and cheaper space-suits with a view to flourish the commercial space flight industry. Final Frontier Design has received its funding goal on Kickstarter, with a surplus of $7000, and is now in the course of creating a whole new kind of intra-vehicular space suit.

Building on earlier variants of spacesuits they’ve created, the duo's main focus lies on widening the operating pressure envelope, reducing weight, and lightening the price tag to about $50,000 (which is still quite cheap as compared to NASA's suits). These suits will be sent for NASA certification till the year end.
