selection of motor

right now , myself and my project team have got to build a single seater electric car, to run with a maximum speed of 40 kmph. the battery to be used is only 12 v, and the car is a rear wheel drive and the motor shaft is to be coupled to the rear axle by bevel gears. (the car is single speed and has no reverse gear).

now how do we proceed to select the motor ?

I believe any suitable motor will work with you, even if it was a 220V AC!
You can simply fix a DC-AC inverter which is capable of producing 220V AC 4000W, once you fix it, you'll have various options of motors 😀
