Martin Gardner's 5 X 5 Chess Board Puzzle

Another puzzle from the master, Martin Gardner:
Quote: Unattacked Queens
The properties of chess pieces play a part in many challenges, including in a group of problems about unattacked queens. Imagine three white queens and five black queens on a 5 × 5 chessboard. Can you arrange them so that no queen of one color can attack a queen of the other color? There is only one solution, excluding reflections and rotations. Endquote

(My opinion: Since the black and white queens are 3 and 5 any symmetric placement may lead to an even number of suitable positions and so fail. Also it may be easier to manipulate the three whites rather than the five blacks to arrive at the solution.)
