Huawei Y5 2017 announced: tech specs and features at a glance

Chinese electronics major Huawei has unveiled its new affordable smartphone, the Huawei Y5 2017. The device is listed on the company's official website revealing it's tech specs and features but no information is provided regarding its availability and pricing. Huawei is a well-known player when it comes to providing affordable Android smartphones to its users. And with the Y5 2017, the company is trying to refine its portfolio and compete effectively with the likes of Xiaomi.

The Huawei Y5 2017 measures 143.8mm x 72mm x 8.35mm and boasts a soft curvature design with a distinct textured body. On the top, there is the 5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) display which the company claim is capable of producing stunning bright colors and lively visuals. Under the hood, there is a MediaTek MT6737T Quad core CPU (4 x 1.4GHz Cortex-A53) paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of inbuilt storage with the option for further expansion by up to 128GB using a microSD card.

For photography, the smartphone houses an 8-megapixel rear camera with F2.0 aperture lens and dual LED flash. For selfies and video chats, there is a 5-megapixel soft lighting front camera with 84-degree wide-angle lens.

The Huawei Y5 2017 is fuelled by a 3000mAh high-density polymer battery which the company claims will last for up to 1.5 days on a single charge. On the software front, the smartphone runs Google's Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Huawei's Emotion UI v4.1 on the top. For connectivity, the smartphone offers single-SIM 4G LTE, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/AGPS/Glonass and a microUSB port. Onboard sensors include Accelerometer, proximity sensor, compass and ambient light sensor.

The smartphone will be available in five different color options namely, Gold, White, Blue, Pink, and Grey and is expected to hit the stores soon.
