How to transition from web-development to working in the space industry?

I've done mostly web development so far and want out. I'm burnt out on building websites. I want to transition into working on space-related stuff.

Here's my rough plan:

  • Improve my algorithms, systems, and graphics programming knowledge over the next year at 42 Silicon Valley.

  • Go to college and get a degree in Physics and/or math.

    • Ideally work part-time in software during this to fund it and build up some experience.

  • Read and self-study to fill in the gaps.

What am I missing? Has anyone here made this transition?
