Concrete Blocks From Construction And Demolition Wastes
Project Abstract / Summary : In India and world over, huge amount of demolished waste is generated by construction Industry which is disposed as land fill for low lying areas. Dumping of wastes on land is not only causing shortage of space, but also environmental problems.Recycling of demolished waste can offer not only the solution of growing waste disposal problem, but will also help to conserve natural resources for meeting increasing demand of aggregates for long time to come for construction industry and give sustainable environment.
This project aims at investigating the possibility of recycling the Construction And Demolition(C & D) waste into building material. The building material we tend to produce are concrete blocks. A process to get aggregate from demolition waste is developed. Concrete blocks of mixes 1:3:6 and 1:4:8 with 30%,50% and 70% replacement of coarse aggregate with waste materials were done. Tested blocks were found to satisfy IS code specifications.Also cost analysis was done and it is found to be satisfactory.
Why did you choose to work on this project topic : while we are selecting the topic we decide that it should be a solution to one of the problem faced by the construction industry.when searched for that and we found that while a new building is formed a lot of waste is generating,so we decided to convert it to a useful building material.it is also ecofriendly and cost effective.we think that it will be solution for the problem faced by construction industry all over the world
