Amazon Dash: A Wi-Fi Barcode Scanner With Voice Recognition For Amazon Fresh Users In US

After creating a stir in the market with the launch of its powerful yet affordable set top box and gaming console titled Amazon Fire TV = Set Top Box + Gaming Console, Amazon is all set to make grocery shopping an easy and hi-tech affair with the launch of #-Link-Snipped-#. Amazon Dash has been made specifically for #-Link-Snipped-# customers in the US. For the uninitiated, Amazon Fresh is a grocery delivery service by the global electronic commerce company that is currently operational in the areas of Southern California, San Francisco and Seattle. The Amazon Dash is a Wi-Fi enabled device that houses a LED barcode scanner and a voice recognition module. Once powered by two AA batteries, Amazon Dash is ready to be paired with the Amazon Fresh app running on an iPhone, Kindle Fire or Android device via Wi-Fi. You also get the option to pair it with your personal computers.

To avoid any accidental purchases, the items are added to a Dash list instead of the shopping cart. There are two ways to add items to your Dash list. To add generic grocery items such as milk, eggs, fruits and vegetables to the Dash list you have to press the voice button speak the item names one by one. To add specific products to the Dash list you can scan the barcode of the product using the LED scanner on the device. Once you are done, you can verify and alter the items on the Dash list and add them to your shopping cart to place the order. The items are delivered the next day at your doorstep. The aforementioned process is visually illustrated in the video below.

Amazon Fresh will be shipping the Amazon Dash free of charge to select customers who sign up on their website. We would like to remind our readers that customers residing in the operational areas of Amazon Fresh will be eligible to apply and for the rest of us, we have to stay content with the shopping list created on our smartphones and papers. For the meanwhile, check out the promotional video of the product and post your opinions in the comment section below.

In the world of Technology, this is an wonderful and helpful device with a motto of saving the sticky notes and pen (which otherwise we would have used pen-paper to note down the things that we will add in the shopping cart) 😁

And 'Yes', I am not making fun of the innovation.
