60beat GamePad Controller; iOS Gamers, Do You Dig?

According to a #-Link-Snipped-#, 100 of top 150 downloads on iOS devices are games, with 71.6 million downloads overall. There is no doubt that gaming on iOS devices has found a comfortable place but despite the huge numbers there is still that constant obstacle that comes with a touchscreen interface. Much progress has been achieved on that front too with developers churning out optimum performance for the medium by crafting virtual analog sticks and swipe gestures for camera panning. Now, a company called 60beat attempts to enhance the performance further by introducing a physical controller for iOS devices.

Coming down to the features, the controller pretty much looks like an XBOX console controller with two analog sticks, D-pad, and ten action buttons (including the two analog joysticks). The surprising fact here is that, it isn't a wireless controller and connects through the headphone jack, yes, you read it right.

Is this a reasonable deal? As of now, not many things fall in support of the 60beat controller, the greatest worry being the dearth of supported games. Though 60beat promises that more titles will be out in February with physical controller support, if the games themselves are worth a buy will make or break the product.

The controller might seem a bit awkward in arrangement with an iPad or iPhone but when paired with a HDTV through #-Link-Snipped-#, you have a proper gaming console at hand. iOS gaming has seen a commendable advance with the A5 processor and is expected to continue the progress with the A6 processor that will probably arrive with the iPad 3. The 60beat GamePad is priced at $50.
