Get Ready For 3D Gaming On the New Handheld Nintendo 3DS

Japanese video game giants Nintendo have once again proven to their competitors that they are leading the pack by introducing the Nintendo 3DS. This portable gadget which was launched in market this Sunday will allow the gamers to play 3D games without wearing those weird glasses! This new product is set to take gaming and mass entertainment to a new level. The 3DS was on display last week at the Nintendo World Store in New York where gaming enthusiasts had thronged the place in large numbers for getting a trial of this much awaited video game.

[IMG]Nintendo has been a trendsetter since the days of the good old Gameboy. After that came the motion controlled Nintendo Wii which broke all the sales records for the company. However, with the advent of smartphones and android tabs, the gamers have had an inclination to play games on their phones rather than buying a standalone gaming device. Nintendo hopes to get back its clientele with the 3DS. But the competition is very tough as AT&T and Sprint Nextel Corp. have revealed that they will be launching 3D mobile phones in this financial year. So the success of this gadget depends on the entertainment options it presents to the users. Besides gaming, the 3DS can also click 3D images. People can also watch 3D movies on the brilliant 3.5 inch screen by streaming on sites like Netflix. The 3D effect is adjustable and can even be turned off if you get a headache or feel dizzy by the 3D graphics.

This is not the first time that Nintendo has tried to develop three dimensional video games. In 1995, Nintendo came up with Virtual Boy which came along with a headgear that had to be worn while playing to see 3D. Also, everything appeared in red color on the screen. Virtual Boy proved to be a flop so Nintendo discontinued with it. The technology used in 3DS makes use of the “Parallax Barrier” LCD screen. The display appears as if it is having two different layers which cause each eye to see a different image. The two images are then superimposed in our brain thus creating a 3 dimensional effect. Game developers believe that this new handheld device will provide better depth perception to the gamers. So you will find easier to grasp the height, width and breadth of the gaming world.

Market analysts believe that the Nintendo 3DS is going to be a bigger success than Wii. The large number of pre-orders clearly indicates that Nintendo is going to sell as many as it produces for the first 12 months or so. Pro gamers and geeky sofa athletes have all been eagerly awaiting the release date for 3DS. So what about you? Are you going to buy the new Nintendo?
