Amazon Ahead of Google and Apple in Cloud Based Music Storage
Few days ago the rumors heard about the “Amazon” are now turning to reality. With their “cloud drive” and “cloud player” going live on their site, Amazon is entering the music locker space. And guess what? It has done this before the Google and the Apple. Now you might be wondering as to what cloud is signifying here. Here is the answer. Cloud is basically a term used to describe the internet. Amazon is now having its media storage space on the server. Cloud drive is the name given to this storage space.
Furthermore, cloud player is the name of the actual player of the Amazon. It has following two versions:

There is no iOS player yet. What the Amazon does is they give you a 5GB space on their server for free. This space is enough to store about a 1000 songs. This space is completely yours. Manage it as you want. You will not be charged a single penny for this. You can access this space from any computer. You can even store videos, photos and documents online and access whenever and wherever you want. The only thing needed is a browser to upload, download and access your files.
The advantage is you will never loose your data even if your hard drive crashes or even if your laptop is stolen. If you buy any album through the Amazon MP3 it will be saved in your web space for free. Furthermore, if you buy an album from the Amazon MP3, your cloud drive space will be upgraded to 20GB for free for a year. This is not about sheer music. Amazon has made a provision to store 70 hours of HD videos in 1TB of space which otherwise costs a $1000. isn’t this fabulous? The uploader accepts only MP3 or AAC formats. The only problem now is we cannot upload songs from our mobile for the time being.
Furthermore, cloud player is the name of the actual player of the Amazon. It has following two versions:
- Player for the WEB: this works on IE 8 and above, Firefox 3.5 and above, chrome and safari. No opera support. Flash is required.
- Player for the Android devices.
