Yahoo's C.O.R.E. Visualization Tool Goes Public

Yahoo's C.O.R.E algorithm, which stands for  Content Optimization and Relevance Engine, primarily used for generating personalized news, has gone public. Though the algorithm was originally launched in 2008, Yahoo has only recently revealed the visualization tool. Yahoo has already garnered an outstanding  increase of 300 percent in the clickthrough rate since the introduction of the C.O.R.E. algortihm.

The C.O.R.E. algorithm is essentially used for organizing and displaying news dependent on a particular user.  So, basically after the most important news is collected by Yahoo's editors, it goes through a filtration process to personalize the top news according to the user's interest. In this way, Yahoo gives users an insight into what interests them and also lets them look into the real-time activities of people who have similar interests.

C.O.R.E. sits at the center of various Yahoo! applications including Yahoo! News and the Today Module. Though, the algorithm ensures that the top news is set with respect to the user, Yahoo! does make exceptions where necessary. For example, the news of the death of Osama Bin Laden was a top news for everyone irrespective of the user's interests.

When one visits the visualization page of the Yahoo! homepage, one can see the news divided according to gender, age and major American cities. Also, there is a real-time counter at the top which displays the number of views of the Yahoo! homepage on that day. The tool is equally helpful for marketing firms who can decipher trends and act accordingly to promote their products.

The visualization tool is available on Yahoo! and can be accessed from#-Link-Snipped-#
