    even though tester looks like small circuit....i wonder how it works even when i touch the conducting edge without grounding myself by standing on a plastic chair or wearing shoes.........could anyone explain me how it happens

    Nice question though

    The path of current is not terminated in the conductor itself and it continues till it hits your body making the tester to glow "MY THEORY" I would say
