Twitter Does A Facebook, Tests Profile Re-Design Similar To The Social Network

Twitter well might be looking to do a facebook with respect to its design. #-Link-Snipped-# reports that the micro-blogging site is considering a new design for the user profile pages. The revamp looks much similar to that of the social networking site, facebook. The main profile photo and the bio-data of user is aligned to the left and the cover photo occupies much greater area. The recommended cover-photo size in the test version is 1500 x 500 pixels which is higher than the one in current design i.e. 1250 x 626. The count for tweets, followers, favorites, following and lists could be found right under the massive cover photo.

Twitter, has in past, conducted such tests on random profiles. However, these tests are not a confirmation of the design launch. But the experiment certainly captures the thought that Twitter is holding onto. The concerned design hints that the company is looking to shift its focus on photo based model. This could well mean that twitter is ready to temper with its text-based vertical profile model which formed its DNA. It seems safe to assume that Twitter wants to win over a major chunk of 'first-time-users' who are relatively comfortable with its rival networks such as facebook and google+.

It is no rocket science to understand that the virtual world is growing exponentially. And with many sites entering the fray, it looks like an open ground. Existing giants will have to re-discover and re-invent at every turn to be alive in the battle. Innovation holds the key as the modern user, probably, loves the 'idea of experimenting'.
