The iconic Volkswagen Beetle from the 60's will hit the Indian roads once again! Volkswagen has just launched the latest version of the Beetle priced at 28.73 lakhs. The company claims that the newest version of Beetle will give an impressive mileage of 17.83km/l. The new Beetle features some significant changes. Volkswagen engineers have added some cool features to the Beetle that can assist both the driver and the passenger. The ‘ParkPilot’ feature warns the driver of possible obstacles using audible and visual alerts. The more the proximity of the car with the obstacle, the faster the beeping signal is. This technology is based on ultrasonic sensors which have been placed on the bumpers.

Featuring a stylish “sliding panaromic sunroof” which tilts by 39 mm to let the air come in, the 2015 Beetle comes with tinted glasses and a fabric blind provide protection against direct sunlight. The roof can also be pushed in, to give a hoodless experience.

The model is available in 8 different colors. The interior is specially designed to give utmost comfort to the passengers. It has a colourful steering which matches with the body paintwork. There is also a device called ‘Ambient Lighting High’ which creates the perfect atmosphere with lighting strips below the door panels and LEDs on the speaker rings of the ‘Fender® Sound’ audio system. One can choose the light colour from white, red and blue.

On the exterior, there are Bi-Xenon headlights and the spectral similarity between the Bi-xenon and daylight makes it easier to drive the car at night.

Powered by a 1.4 Litre Turbo Petrol Engine, with 149 horsepower and 250 Nm Torque. the new Beetle is connected to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox with paddle shift. This comes with a full bag of latest technology and equipments including an anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Hold and Airbags for safety.

Even in today's model, the signature design of Beetle has remain unchanged. The engine bay is fixed at the rear end whereas the trunk compartment is placed in the front, which is one of the most unique features on the Beetle.

It is expected that the new Beetle will reinvent its past glories with new style and performance and set a benchmark for other cars to follow.

I've always wondered what would have been the condition of Hindustan Motors today had they innovated the Ambassador. The Beetle is a timeless classic that has seen solid revamps over the years, yet never fails to impress. Good job VW!

Totally agree. There was a time when small cars used to fear Ambassador in its peak time for its solid body structure. However it would have been totally awesome to have a newly designed Ambassador which can compete may be the new Beetle.
