project ideas for a computer hobbyist!

Hi,
I am a final year BE student in CSE dept. .I too am a computer fanatic .Can someone please provide me some mini project ideas that can be accomplished by just a single person's effort .I am planning do my mtech so please gimme ideas that can increase my chances in the mtech interview.
