OnePlus has announced the launch of its home grown concoction of Android 5.0.2 (Lollipop). The new operating system for OnePlus One smartphones is called Oxygen OS. The operating system was <a href="https://www.crazyengineers.com/threads/oxygenos-oneplus-names-its-custom-rom.78548">"OxygenOS" - OnePlus Names Its Custom ROM</a> in the month of January after OnePlus decided to end its dependency on Cyanogen following a bitter breakup with Cyanogen due to the latter’s <a href="https://www.crazyengineers.com/threads/micromax-cyanogen-deal-in-india-proves-to-be-a-bitter-pill-for-oneplus-customers.77519">Micromax & Cyanogen Deal In India Proves To Be A Bitter Pill For OnePlus Customers</a> Micromax’s YU platform in India. A quick look at the screenshots from the Oxygen OS reminds you of the pristine Android Lollipop on the Nexus 6 smartphone. OnePlus has added quite a lot of features that it thinks will improve user experience. The “Never Settle” company has not strayed from its promise of <a href="https://www.crazyengineers.com/threads/oxygenos-wont-ship-with-bloatware-promises-oneplus.78796">OxygenOS Won't Ship With Bloatware, Promises OnePlus</a> operating system. In the #-Link-Snipped-#, OnePlus says that they have back to basics with the focus on performance and battery life instead of gimmicks and bloated features. We shall discuss the features of Oxygen OS in the following paragraphs.

    Oxygen OS 1
Oxygen OS 2 Oxygen OS 3

OnePlus has included screen-off gestures that were first included on its OnePlus One smartphone. You can double-tap to wake, control your music and invoke the camera and flashlight. One of the unique things found on the Oxygen OS the ability to switch from hardware to software navigation keys. While some might find this quite confusing, we feel that it will satisfy the needs of people who are habituated in using one of the two ways in their existing/old smartphones. The quick settings feature is unlike any quick settings feature that we have seen on any Android smartphone. The tiles are arranged in a circular manner in the notification tray and can be altered by the user. This means you can add and remove quick action buttons of your choice.

    Oxygen OS

While OnePlus isn’t saying if Oxygen OS will replace CyanogenMod on its existing smartphones, <a href="https://www.theverge.com/2015/4/4/8344931/oneplus-one-oxygenos-rom-download-available" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">OnePlus releases its own version of Android as a replacement for Cyanogen - The Verge</a> predicts that there is a possibility that Oxygen OS becomes the norm on the OnePlus Two. Oxygen OS is not being delivered to OnePlus One customers as a over-the-air update instead OnePlus is asking users to #-Link-Snipped-# the operating system from its website and flash it over CyanogenMod. In the #-Link-Snipped-#, OnePlus admits that there are some faults in the initial launch and that is why it is asking users to install the #-Link-Snipped-# that will allow user to send in bug reports and give their opinions on the Oxygen OS.

I think that the upcoming OnePlus Two will ship with Oxygen OS by default. The design and engineering team already knows what users love about Cyanogenmod and will try to include it in the upcoming builds. OPT is still a few weeks from launch and that gives the team some time to put the firmware on the new flagship phone.
