NVIDIA, the GPU leader has launched industry's first NVIDIA GRID™ Visual Computing Appliance for Windows, Linux and Mac operating systems. The system is capable of running complex & graphics intensive applications from Adobe Systems Incorporated, Autodesk and Dassault Systèmes and is able to transmit the output over the network so that it can be viewed on client machines. NVIDIA says that this remote GPU acceleration enables users to have the same graphics processing capabilities without having a dedicated machine at their end.

The system empowers small and medium sized businesses with limited IT infrastructure to create virtual graphics processing machines at a click of a button. CEO of NVIDIA, Mr. Jen-Hsun Huang says that the NVIDIA GRID VCA is industry first appliance that provides convenient and on-demand video processing.

The system indeed is a quite powerful inside. It's got 16 NVIDIA GPUs and NVIDIA GRID VGX software which together deliver NVIDIA Quadro class graphics performance to 16 concurrent users.

Those interested in buying the system will have to wait until its US launch in May at price starting at $24,900 for 8 GPU configuration. The annual license cost of the software will be $2400.
