As it turns out Nokia is busy planning its return to the smartphone business just as the non-compete clause draws to an end this month. You see when #-Link-Snipped-#’s smartphone business it had restricted the latter from naming their smartphones with the Nokia brand until fourth quarter of 2016. This month marks the end of that restriction and Nokia is busy cooking up its smartphones with Android this time. Back in August we got the confirmation from Nokia China President Mike Wang that the company is working on launching three to four Android smartphones by the end of this year. We expect two high-end and two mid-range smartphones from the company.

At the beginning of this month on Saturday keen eyes of the media spotted a Nokia smartphone by the name ‘D1C’ on the bench marking website GeekBench. The Nokia smartphone with the model number D1C was run through Geekbench’s benchmarking tests multiple times on Saturday. The highest single-core score was 682 (twice) while the highest multi-core score was 3229. As the website likes to collect basic information about the product it is testing, we were able to know that the so-called Nokia D1C has a Snapdragon 430 SoC featuring an octa-core 1.4GHz CPU, and the Adreno 505 GPU and 3GB of RAM. The smartphone runs the 64-bit version of Android 7.0 (Nougat).

From the above information we can easily deduce that the Nokia D1C is a mid-range smartphone. This will be one of the two mid-range smartphones that are likely to be unveiled at the end of this year.

Nokia is definitely going to give a bang on specs with its mobiles at a great price. Waiting for a miracle to happen.
