NASA InSight To Drill Holes On Mars In 2016

Happy but not content engineers at NASA have embarked on a new mission called InSight: Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport. The mission will launch in 2016 with an aim to put sophisticated geophysical instruments on Mars surface. These instruments will perform various tests to see why Mars evolved differently from Earth as one of the 'rocky' planets. It will also try to discover whether the core of the red planet is liquid like that of Earth's or solid.

InSight will be equipped with four instruments - JPL designed geodetic instrument, a robotic arm and two video cameras. These instruments will aid in installing the instruments on Mars surface and also determine Mars' rotation axis. The big question InSight will try to answer is "How did the terrestrial planets form?". What do you think?
